VG-1 (V Gold 1) is a high-carbon Japanese stainless steel produced by Takefu Special Steel Co., Ltd. Renowned for its superb balance of hardness, toughness, and corrosion resistance, it is frequently used to craft durable, easy-to-maintain kitchen knives that punch well above their price point
- Carbon (1.0%): Provides high hardness (typically 59–60 HRC) and allows for a razor-sharp, wear-resistant edge.
- Chromium (14% – 15%): Delivers excellent stain and corrosion resistance.
- Molybdenum (0.30%): Enhances the steel’s tenacity, wear resistance, and overall durability.
