Description
SILVER FOX 100
Stainless Razor Blade Steel
Made in Sheffield
Hardening Response
Silver Fox 100 has a very fine dispersion of carbides, allowing hardening to be achieved
at lower temperatures and faster speeds, thereby maximising productivity and
minimising energy usage. The hardness levels obtained are higher and more
consistent than with Silver Fox 67.
Minimal adjustment is required to hardening parameters to maintain good shape after
quenching because of the inherent quality of the steel strip.
Sharpening Performance
The high standard of cleanness of Silver Fox 100 ensures that the wear of grinding
and honing wheels is minimised, reducing the frequency of wheel dressing and giving
longer wheel life. Productivity on the sharpening line is improved; accurate blade edge
geometry is more easily maintained, and scrap rates reduced.
Blade Edge Quality
The edges of the blades made from Silver Fox 100 are consistently clean because the
hardening and sharpening operations have been optimised.
Improved durability, as measured on a simulated or actual shave test, will give
increased consumer satisfaction.
Melting
Specially selected raw materials are melted in a 90 tonne electric arc furnace, refined
by vacuum degassing and cast into four or five tonne ingots.
The steel making practice is carefully controlled to ensure that the tightest possible
standards are attained on chemical analysis and cleanliness levels.
Rolling
After hot rolling the coils are descaled, annealed and cold rolled to 0.10mm ±
0.005mm using Sendzimir and four high mills with automatic gauge controls.
